When the Sunday movie was the Wizard of Oz, the rain washed the event out,and some friends dressed up for the costume contest made my evening at home watching the Tony Awards quite spectacular. Robert bounded in the door in his flying monkey suit, (I wish I had the picture of him with the mask on, it was great!), Jerri was the tin woman in the most amazing silver boots I have ever seen. She arrived with a silver funnel hat she cleverly constructed from a basic light fixture. Artists make the best costumes!!! Eureka Springs, with it’s abundance of artists, has the best Halloween costumes ever. Kids here frown on the store bought variety. I love that! Dorothy, of course, was played by Wendi LaFey, seen above singing Over the Rainbow once the karaoke machine was set up and the fun really began.

Also present were Robin, in her PJs, seen here singing karaoke, and Kevin, who served up a wonderful dinner he made with peas fresh from his garden. That exempted him from the costume, I suppose. We had one rather odd guest later in the evening. See if you can tell who this silly person is:

I have a lot to blog about from the past month of hanging out with this gang of artists, of the upcoming arts events and classes I have been planning, and of the trip to Texas, but this just couldn’t wait any longer. I mean the Arkansas Artist Calendar thing with a reception at the Governor’s Mansion is real nice, but does it stand a chance against the hilarity that could happen any old Sunday night in Eureka?
