Art Colony Art Car

you hold the stencil

I had the privilege of going over to the Art Colony and helping out with the quick spray down a couple of days before the parade. The car belongs to “Colonist” Antler Dan and is adorned with symbols which are common to his work, eagles and goddesses. Funny, the men were working on the eagles and the women were given a stencil and used a variety of pink and purple paints for the goddesses.

I spray

Gloves and spray adhesive are recommended.

it is not coming out

When the can does not spray, turn it around and peer into the nozzle as you press it. That gets it working every time!

where does the last goddess go

I am looking over to the creator of the stencil, Kurtz (yes, he is is the Ozark Scrimshaw Man I have mentioned in previous posts)for some final guidance as to how the last few goddesses shall be aligned with the eagle for the feather details which will follow.

Kurtz helps Jerri and I plan the last steps

Kurtz lends Jerri a hand with the positioning of the final few goddesses.

one last fling with the paint

Hold on there, one last thing to paint! Wendi and Jerri also stencilled goddesses on Cathy Harris’s tee shirt, front and back. Cathy and husband JD are the creators of the Art Colony and operate a studio and gallery just across N. Main St. Cathy, like most great Eurekans, just happened to have a giant bag of what seems to be known around here as fairy poop, those little glass drops used in flower arranging, and she popped home to fetch them and several tubes of adhesives. And then the real fun began.. I’ll save that for another post.
