Well, a server change wiped out the Halloween post I did about duct tape which showed my wonderful godson in the costume I made for him. Perhaps I’ll do that one over another time. I had promised to get photos of the edges of this painting up and while these are not quite the shots I had imagined, I am quite happy with the lighting in the studio, especially since I took these shots at night. I have titled one other painting, a commission, on the side and really like being able to wrap the entire canvas with joyful bits. I was so happy working on this painting that when I had finished and was signing the back, I suddenly wrote a little poem on the stretcher bars. I’m no poet, really, but I do love words and I do love talking and I am thrilled when I am able to put together a string of words that shares my ideas, especially my happy ones. I liked doing this so much this time that I have decided to incorporate text into some paintings. I am continuing to do paintings of the big eyed girls but the next group is looking a bit more mature, a lot more joyful and will offer some, hopefully uplifting, text. I’m sure that many will be shorter than this poem, but some could very well bear inscriptions which wrap all the way around the image. To give you an idea of where my head is now and what to expect from these paintings, here’s the little poem on the back of delight:
Birds Trees Rivers You
Expand
Branch Out
Soar
More and deeper into your being
Be!

I really enjoy the direction your art is heading. I think you have definitely found your niche especially with these girls. It makes sense since you are so fascinated with people that your art would reflect that and make the people you paint come alive with personality. I really enjoy the poem, too. You should definitely explore incorporating that into your art. We miss you guys and hope to be able to see you soon.
Oh, Laurie! I miss you, too. Thanks for checking in. You know, you and Jim were always so helpful to me as I waded through all the paintings I had to do to get to where I am now. I still desire your feedback and I especially appreciate these good thoughts!
