Etsy Destash Bash

fabric writer paints

This is a picture of some of the supplies I have included in my Etsy shop for the Etsy Destash Bash that is going on right now. Many sellers, including myself, are doing spring cleaning in their studios and offering deals on items they no longer need. Click on the picture for a huge lot of fabric painting/embellishing supplies for only $22.00.

morning glory box, coasters, and gift bag

morning glory gift set

This footed gift box with matching felt-backed coasters comes with a coordinated gift bag.  I made this for Delta using their fabulously shiny Paint Jewels and it was not picked up for their ads after all.  Now, my older projects must go to make way for the new and you can have this set for only $18.00. I’m still very limited in my movement, but now that I have the boot my fibula has quit moving around and the real healing can begin. The bad news is that it this type of sprain takes 16 weeks to heal, that I can’t get much work done, that the garage to studio conversion must wait, that I’m a little nuts after three weeks of this. The good news is that it’s a temporary setback, I’m a real good healer, the pain has reduced to one area, and I can sit up for longer periods of time. Today I’m wishing for some elves to come work on the garage and for all my Etsy clearance items to sell.

My ankle is improving and I am so happy to be on the mend! In between ankle icings, I’ve been working on some more origami and done a bit of sorting in my studio. I am pulling out supplies I will not need or use in preparation for a destash bash sale event at Etsy to be held later this month. I am also making up a few art kits to send to a teacher in an urban middle school who is working to make sure her students have books to take home with them, maybe some of them will find an outlet in art. Since it will be a little while until I can again stand up long enought to paint, I am posting images of some of my older work that is now available in my Etsy shop. painting on hold but at least I can fold! (origami, that is)

artist press release

I’m back! Since stepping in a hole and wrecking my ankle, I have been confined to odd positions and unable to paint or do much of anything where my leg hangs down. I took it pretty well at first, but I must confess that after the worst of the pain subsided, I began to feel restless and to worry about all the things which I have had to let go. Like scanning in this press clipping, which appeared in the paper the day after my ankle incident. I was pleased to find this in a local newspaper after having written and submitted my first press release on my own behalf. Unfortunately, resizing it pixelated the image horribly, but you can see a good image of this painting here.

I still cannot stand up to paint, but it was great to find that EurekanArt Gallery needed some more of my origami mobiles and that I could fold cranes while lying down with my leg elevated. The mobiles turned out beautifully and it felt great to do something after being struck down with this ankle problem.  I made the most wonderful origami mobile ever! It has 24 tiny birds and 29 amazing crystals. I enjoyed an hour or so just watching the birds spin and the crystals sparkle. It was like a beautiful piece of music or a ballet and I felt completely rested and rejuvenated by it. I am grateful that I can make beautiful things which inspire people to slow down and take notice of their breath.

I have a lot of catch up work to do and I’m really itching to get back in the studio and paint, but this is just about my limit for today, so I’m off now to see my new best friend-the ice pack!
