prints of berries paintings ready to frame

I have added a few small prints of paintings from my newest series to my shop at Etsy, including  a pair of the poke berries paintings, which I have had a lot of requests for. The 6″ x 6″ prints look great on the glossy photo paper. Click the image above to go to the listing for the pair of prints. Visit my Etsy shop’s prints and cards category for individual prints.

WWAO group show

Things are looking good as the press rolls in for the WWAO group exhibit at the Progress Energy Art Gallery in New Port Richey, Florida.  Today I am working on my press release.

framed print trio

This is a print from three of the paintings in my latest series. They are titled golden apple, up to Eureka, and chocolate covered love. It is available in my Etsy shop. Click on the picture to view the listing.

2 framed prints still available

The eBay auction ended, no sale. EBay has never been my thing, too bad for me that I fell for the listing fee sale and went to the trouble of listing again.  I still have two of the framed beauties in my Etsy shop. Click the photo to view the listing.

Oil pastels for a tip

I was the happy recipient of a lovely set of 60 oil pastels from Loew-Cornell, a company whose great brushes I have used and endorsed in my painting how to projects. Loew-Cornell is doing a fantastic job of providing tips and education for people on their website and in their newsletter. They even sent me a booklet full of tips on using these oil pastels, which were a gift for my submission of a tip they can use in future consumer tips segments. Click on the photo to visit their website. My tip’s not up there yet but I’ll share it here. I honestly do enjoy the products I endorse and would never offer an endorsement for any item which I did not use myself and find to be worth recommending to others.

“I have a tip for painters regarding the use of the Loew-Cornell Brush Tub 383, which I use and love. When I finish washing my brushes and brush tub, I firmly insert the handles of the brushes upside down into the holes around the edge of the tub and place the tub on a cup to elevate it. This way any water remaining in the bristles will drain downward and help protect the ferrule.”

It will probably be awhile before I try these out. I have never used oil pastels. I think I’ll want to try using them with some turp or other solvents to see what cool effects I can get. Anyone want to share a tip or idea with me?

group show

outlook good 12″ x 24″

This is the painting of mine which will be featured in a group show titled “A Woman’s Work Is Never Done” at the  Progress Energy Gallery in New Port Richey, Florida. The show will feature the work of members of the World Wide Women Artists group and the exhibiting members and the gallery are donating a percentage of the sales to help bring Czech photographers to the US. Other than that, it’s a regulare gallery/exhibitor agreement with better commission rates than I get in the local galleries and the opportunity to help other artists, WOW!

School Marm Peepeye

School Marm has been up to her ears in rowdy youngsters for quite some time. She loves her kids, but she’s looking forward to the day when her hearing goes! At least one of her gentler Peepeye students thought to bring her an apple today.

This Peepeye has been added to my Etsy shop, peepeyes.etsy.com. I’m having a big studio clearance sale there and putting up most of the unsold craft items I have made over the past few years. It’s great to be clearing out the studio and focusing on painting.

Clicking on the image will take you directly to that item.

website updated

It’s been a very busy time clearing out the old and making way for the new year. Today I updated my website and now all the paintings which had been added to the blog as newest works in the past few months are easily viewed by category and without commentary. I have also made some minor changes to the layout and added links to my shop at Etsy. To visit my website, kathrynsemolic.com click the screenshot.

Phirebrush Issue 45

I’m happy to have a few more paintings included in Issue 45 of Phirebrush. The good cat painting I did about ownership of big cats is included, as are two mixed media pieces about a street dance. Click on the pictures below to go to the pages they’re on and visit Phirebrush.
