reasons to buy art

I encourage you to buy orinal art, especially directly from artists. Buy what you like. Art is an investment in the quality of your life. Owning art is making an investment in your soul and the life of your culture. Looking at art will lift your spirits and lower your blood pressure, lengthen your life and make it more pleasurable. Looking at a painting of a landscape has the same calming effect on the body as being out in nature.

Oh well, look on the bright side, at least I’m not
supporting the parasitic business community either!

Oh, Jeez, don’t waste your time on guilt. I hate to play a part in the creation of that emotion! I think people should purchase art which pleases them. If you like bare walls, go with it. If you want some art, it would be cool to buy direct from an artist. I don’t really see the art industry as parasitic, well, with the exception of all the art auctions, but a successful industry that I have gleefully supported. I may not buy into a lot of the hocus pocus snobbery of the art world, but I definitely participate in my own way. I’m hoping people will stop thinking of art as either something for viewing in museums or that crappy matching print stuff in cheap hotels and find what speaks to them. I’m like a lot of independent artists. I keep my prices reasonable enough and offer installment plans so that everyone who wants to own original art by me can do so. Art is for everyone and every day life. And as bitter as I was yesterday,I’m back at it today! Thanks for reading and commenting, Kathryn
